Excellent! We need a dashboard for spaceship earth.

We are hosting a conference June 1-4 in Burlington, Vermont -- GNH 2010: Changing what we measure from Wealth to Well-Being. We are launching a Gross National Happiness information and best practices movement in the USA. The conference will give us an opportunity to discuss research on indicators in the progressive laboratory of Vermont and to explore best practices for business, NGO's and Governments to implement social progress indicators in their operations and planning. Check our website for information on the conference (there will be a call for papers in November) and we have started a repository of links to useful information. Please give us information on other sites that we should link to.
Also there is a conference in Brazil, November 20-23 the 5th International Gross National Happiness Conference -- the website is www.felicidadeinternabruta.org.br

It would be interesting to see whether Google class semantically linked data as the same as "traditional" API. As your paper suggests, it could become something quite different.

In the UK, Sir Tim and Prof. Nigel Shadbolt are advising the Government on how to "make public data public", using the semantic web. Developers are trying things out, and discovering that statistical datasets are not so easy to represent in rdf triples. The work is led by computer scientists, who are mostly not statisticians - there is a real need for more statistical contributions, otherwise the work that went into SDMX will get lost in the semantic rush.

I'd like to see this become a more international effort - you can apply to join the trial development community here:

I think the Slovenian atlas is very well made, easy to understand, and well presented prominently on the front page of the office where it deserves to be. Congratulations! It seems to me to be the most accessible statistical maps from a NSO I have been able to find in the world - I may of course have missed some.
I am studying this in order to prepare a strategy for maps in Statistics Denmark, and I am interested in hearing hints about other excellent maps. I would like to establish a discussion between people working actively with this. Could it be in this blog? I have noticed that many are doing similar things and probably wasting time.
